Review
Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter is a 100-minute dark fantasy action horror based on the premise that Abraham Lincoln was President by day, Vampire Hunter by night. It was based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s 2010 book of the same name – which was inspired by Queen Victoria: Demon Hunter published by A.E. Moorat. Once you recover from the seemingly lunacy that is Abraham Lincoln as a Vampire Hunter, the film engulfs you with its playful, stylish vampire inspired alternative history. It is a film that comes with a certain degree of respect for American values and portrays Abraham Lincoln as a President struggling to do the right thing. Overall, despite the films questionable narrative, it is a decent film that will entertain the audience through its gritty and dark colour scheme, unusual character interactions and storyline.

Adopted from the 2010 best seller by Seth Grahame-Smith, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter retells the age-old good versus evil cliché with an alternate historical twist. The plot flowed rather nicely and the actors gave some rather good performances. Though I know some people that have been confused whether or not this is actually real (I am not kidding), Abe Lincoln is an interesting and engaging film that kept the Reviewers entertained for 100 minutes.

My first reaction upon hearing about this film was - okay so let me see if I understand this film – Abraham Lincoln is a Vampire Hunter and President of the United States? So he is the American version of Van Helsing? Really. However, despite the blatant disregard for historical sensibilities this film is actually reasonably decent. It blends a dark fantasy storyline with key Abe Lincoln related historical events to tell a rather unique and interesting narrative with some semi-decent special effects thrown in for good measure. Overall, despite the silly character choice, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter is worth watching just to laugh at the idea of ‘four scores and seven vampires ago’.
