Review
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a 3D science fiction action comedy that was designed to reboot the series. While the film was nominated for five Golden Raspberry Awards, including Worst Picture and Worst Supporting Actreess, it was a semi decent film. Despite being directed by directed by Jonathan Liebesman and produced by Michael Bay, who collectively do not have the best track record for rebooting films. Overall, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film did contain some humours moments and portrayed the turtles in a fun, engaging and comedic way. However, at times, it tried too hard to please it tried to fit too much in 97 minutes, which left the film feeling a bit uncoordinated and rushed in places.

Fearing the worst from a reboot of the popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle franchise, I was left with rather mixed feelings. The story seemed rather weak in places and the lack of any substantial character development relating to the main antagonists disappointed me, especially as I come to expect this from watching the franchise since the 90’s. However, the witty one-liners delivered a needed respite from sometimes appalling acting from Megan Fox and Whoopi Goldberg, who might I add isn’t featured that much in the film. Further to this the use of CGI was well used, and left me thinking this 2014 version of the TMNT was a decent reboot that left things nicely open for a sequel.

What can I say about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) apart from the obvious – this film was so extreme it came out the sewers like laser beams and I got rocked by the shell-shocked pizza kings. Moving on from this plug of the TMNT theme music, this film attempted to reboot a popular franchise that I grew up watching, the film was decent, the turtles were well represented. However, a lack of the TMNT music and somewhat disappointing acting by some of the supporting cast let this film down. Overall, I enjoyed the film and it was fun to re-contact with my childhood for 97 minutes.
