Law Abiding Citizen sees Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) issue a chilling warning to Prosecutor Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx), to fix the flawed justice system that let one of the killers, who murdered his wife and daughter in a vicious home invasion, walk free or people will die.

8 out of 10

Review

Law Abiding Citizen sees a father lose everything in a heartbeat before being subjective to a legal system designed to benefit the lawyers and not the notion of justice. Law Abiding Citizen is a hard-hitting, gripping criminal thriller that illustrates the acting credentials of both Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx, as they attempt to out fox each other (no pun intended). It contains highly charged, emotional, and explosive action scenes and engulfs the audience in a rich, deep and dark storyline that will leave you wondering how Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) is doing everything from a prison cell. While the end is a bit weak and predictable, the remaining 90/95 minutes of this 104 minute film make up for it. Overall, Law Abiding Citizen is a film that will both entertain audiences and make them feel uncomfortable at times due to the violent nature of certain scenes.

Both Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx deliver gripping performances throughout this film, which helps to display the range of emotions their characters go through. Coupled with the films intense, but not overpowering, storyline, and subtle plot twists make this a highly entertaining and fun 104-minute film.

Reviewer 2's score & comments:

Score: 8 out of 10

Comments:

Law Abiding Citizen contains all the drama and suspense you expect from a F. Gary Gray directed blockbuster. The characters feel realistic, the special effects are visually pleasing, and the storyline is engulfing – albeit slightly farfetched at times. Overall, Law Abiding Citizen is a must watch for audiences that like a crime thriller, it will leave audiences wondering about how justice is decided and whether or not taking the law into your own hands can ever been truly justified.
