Review

Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is action film based on the popular Halo Franchise. It originally was released as a 5 part Webseries before being re-released as a film. It starts off slowly by introducing the audience to Thomas Lasky (Tom Green), a misfit, training at Corbulo Military Academy, a twenty-sixth century military academy, before picking up pace as the academy is attacked by the Covenant. This uptake in tempo allows the audience to connect with Lasky without having any prior knowledge of the Halo Franchise, which ensures both fans and newcomers to the franchise, can enjoy the film. Overall, while the plot starts off slow and some of the characters seem under-developed, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn has an engaging storyline, impressively uses CGI to bring the Convenant to life and displays the acting credentials of Tom Green who does a fantastic job of playing Tom Lasky.

Comments:

Originally released as a short TV series (webseries), Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn shocked me with its overall character development, engaging storyline and impressive use of CGI to create the invading Covenant forces. This film also includes several nods to the Halo Franchise including weaponry, vehicles, and alien forces.

Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is exicting and engaging film that highlights how a successful game franchise can effortlessly be turned into a film. While, it does suffer in places with minor issues - these can be forgiven as it was originally designed as a webseries. Overall, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn showcases the Halo Franchise is an action-packed and explosive manner that will entertain audiences, whether they are fans of the franchise or not.
