Review
Mortal Instruments is a 127-minute fantasy film that brings Cassandra Clare's book of the same name to life. As Clary (Lily Collins) adjusts to being a part of a world filled with dark and dangerous demons and half-angel protectorates, the audience is drawn into a unique and interesting film. Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower feed off each other to deliver excellent performances that help push forward the thrilling storyline, while their romance sub-plot helps distract the audience from certain special effects that add nothing to the films storyline. Overall, Mortal Instruments is a decent film. However, at times, it suffers by attempting to juggle too many elements at once - which the Reviewers recommend the studio could solve by using a rune before releasing any sequel to this film.

Comments:
Adapted from Cassandra Clare's book of the same name, this film portrays a thrilling storyline but ultimately failed to blend this correctly with the romance and action orientated plot. Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower both perform reasonably well and really project their characters range of emotions. However, the 127-minute film does feel both slow and clunky at times and leaves the audience wanting more.

Comments:
A surprising, interesting, well directed, and unusual film. Mortal Instruments blends fantasy with sci-fi, romance, and action to create a reasonably good film. The natural chemistry between Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower helps to sell the films romance sub-plot, while the main story progresses at a steady pace to its climax. Overall, it is film that could easily spawn a sequel and has enough depth and detail to entertain audiences of all ages.
