Reviewers | Delivery Man

Delivery Man sees David Wazniak's life get more complicated than he can imagine after finding out he is the biological father of 533 children, through sperm donations he made 20 years ago. Now he faces a tough decision on whether or not to his identity as 142 of his children file a lawsuit to reveal his identity.

A remake of the 2011 French-Canadian Film 'Starbuck' by Ken Scott, Delivery Man (which is also Directed by Scott) sees David Waniak (Vince Vaughn) dealing with a unique situation. As he initially finds out, he is the father of 533 children, through sperm donations, before having to hide his identify from the 142 children who have filed a lawsuit to reveal it - while stalking and helping them in random acts of kindness. Delivery Man is a comedy that breaks the mould; it quickly draws the audience in and takes them on a warm yet gripping story interlaced with the occasional comedic moment. Vince Vaughn and Chris Pratt feed off each other nicely to create a 105-minute film that from start to finish was enjoyable, albeit somewhat preposterous.

Comments:

This film was a joy to watch and was strangely gripping, a feature not known to many recent comedies. Vince Vaughn brings some dynamic acting to bear throughout the film and the supporting case offer further flashes of hilarity and warmth to the production. Personally, I would have liked to see more character development from some David Wazniak's children but Director Ken Scott used the 105-minute run time to good effect.

Comments:

Prior to watching this film, I had mixed views on it - on paper it sounded like an interesting comedy but I was worried that it may not live up to its hype in reality. However, this film did just that. Delivery Man is a satire comedy that sees David Wazniak's life, which is already filled with debts and a meaningless job, get more complicated as he attempts to hide his identity from his children and girl friend. While Delivery Man could have been longer and developed characters more, it was a warm and unusual comedy that I would watch again.
