Review
Rush is a 118 minute racing film that is based on the real-life rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda. Directed by Ron Howard, Rush effortlessly creates a detailed story that explains what drives these two Formula 1 stars. As the film progresses and switches between both Hunt's and Lauda's perspectives it picks up pace and displays their different styles both on and off the track. As the film proceeds to its apex, it picks up even more speed, with the dramatic final race in Japan in torrential rain, which leaves the audience thoroughly entertained. Overall, Rush is a gripping film that sets out the physical and psychological rivalry between the two men and leaves the audience questioning how far they would go to beat their own rivals.

Though initially sceptical about this film, I was quickly engulfed in the intense rivalry between Hunt and Lauda and was taken on a roller coaster ride that encompasses both parties’ personal lives and their clashes, both on and off the racetrack. Even if you are not a fan of racing I would definitely suggest watching this film just for the dynamic acting and gripping storyline.

Rush could have been a flop. However, Ron Howard (Director) has created a fantastic film that is entertaining, gripping, and equally amusing. It is a film that appeals to both racing and non-racing fans alike and sets them on a fast-paced story with more twists and turns than the Nürburgring,. Overall, it is a film that clearly outlines how far two men are willing to go to each out-perform, out-manoeuvre and out-race each other.
