The Anomaly had a lot of potential, set in a futuristic setting involving a battle over mind control and cutting-edge biotechnology; it could have easily become a sci-fi classic. However, The Anomaly, while a good concept quickly failed to match its potential. Immediately, the audience is treated to regular, and rather annoying slow motion sequences, unimaginative characters, a poor and dreadfully contradictory storyline, actors who changed their accents every few minutes and Noel Clarke not only directing but also staring as the main character. In short, The Anomaly is a film that sets the bar for poor filmmaking and will leave audiences walking out / switching off in protest.

With a somewhat original and interesting concept, I had high hopes for this film. However, within the first few minutes all I had witnessed was nothing short of cinema trash. Forgiving Director Noel Clarke for playing the main character, this film treated viewers to a lacking storyline, dreadful acting, and abundant overuse of cinematic slow motion during fight scenes. After seeing Noel Clarke in his underwear periodically, I wonder if this was a subtle indication that this film was utter pants.

This film seriously annoyed me, it is a clear example of poor filmmaking, and why Directors should never be cast as the main character in their own films. How this film, with its constant slow motion sequences and Noel Clarke's nudity, ever made it out of a movie studio is baffling - maybe Noel Clarke owns the studio as well? For the first time as one of The Reviewers, I am seriously lost for words at how bad this film really was - just pure and utter rubbish from start to finish.
