While Pompeii is essentially a 105-minute romance, action drama that features Kit Harrington as Milo, a slave turned Gladiator who must fight to win the affection of his true love while attempting to find a way out of the majestic city of Pompeii as Mount Vesuvius erupts. Pompeii is a visually stunning film that is underpinned by thrilling action, an intense eruption sequence that really captures the wrath of Vesuvius - as it spews death and destruction everyway - and good acting by the majority of the cast.

This film contains stunning visual effects, thrilling action and good acting by Kit Harrington. My only critique of the film is the poor acting by Kiefer Sutherland which reduces its overall quality significantly...maybe Keifer should stick to saving the world in 24 Hours.

While I was initially confused by the concept of the film...getting Pompeii (as in the person) and Pompeii (as in the city) mixed up, I was quickly swept away, like the bodies after Vesuvius erupts, due to the intense nature of this film. However, essentially minus poison, stabbing and family disputes this film is a re-telling of Romeo and Juliet albeit from a Roman perspective.
